Everyone Wants Their Own "Space"
That's right. Apparently both Microsoft and Reuters are gearing up a place for numbers nerds to get connected.
Details are available in the links, or you can check out the accountingweb article which boils it down to the basics.
As I understand it, they are both trying to tap the social networking site craze, with Microsoft even going so far as to say they want the Dynamics Live Beta Community to be a "MySpace for financial pros". They do seem to have slightly different target markets though. If I am understanding the sites properly (keeping in mind I am not a finance person), Reuters is targeting the stock watchers, day traders and market watchers, people they currently reach through other venues. MS, on the other hand, seems to be targeting business financial pros in general, CFOs, accountants, and others.
Either way, with luck, there will be a new resource for finance jokes for the newsletter ;-)
